Ideal workshop, Maintal

At Karosseriebau Ideal in Maintal, precision and efficiency are basic requirements for successful work. The managing director does not want to do without these attributes when it comes to equipping the body and paint store. Ideal heats with the innovative Puls-air heating system.

Ideal Karosseriebau GmbH in Maintal is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year," says Svenja Friedewald on the phone. In September 2017, she took over the management of the business from her father, who founded the company in 1983. "I completed my commercial training here in the company and have actually been familiar with the topics and work in the body shop from an early age," she says. The company is a classic body and paint store. Eight employees, including one apprentice, are mainly responsible for repairing accident damage to cars and, if necessary, trucks.

"The heating issue has been on our minds for some time," says Svenja Friedewald. The repair hall, where all work from assessment to dismantling, repair and final assembly takes place, is the heart of the company. Due to its age, it is not particularly well insulated. In addition, high doors and a ceiling height suitable for trucks ensure rapid heat loss.

"Until 2012, we had an oil-fired heating system outside the hall. The warm air was fed inside via a pipe." It was impossible to install it indoors because the old system made an enormous amount of noise, explains the Managing Director. But that wasn't the only drawback. "The heat output was very manageable, but its thirst for heating oil was all the more remarkable," says Svenja Friedewald.

Low noise, economical, reliable

She and her father became aware of the Puls-air fan heater through an article in a trade magazine. "We then had a long and intensive telephone conversation with Mr. Plet- zer Werner, the developer of the Puls-air heating system. We were so impressed that we bought a 23.5 kW Puls-air heating system straight away".

The purchase was made six years ago, but Svenja Friedewald and her team are still enthusiastic about the Puls-air heating system. "We have permanently installed the mobile heating system in the hall and connected it to the central oil tank, which also feeds the paint booth," explains Svenja Friedewald. The exhaust gases are led outside via a small pipe. "In our experience, the Puls-air requires a little two thirds less oil than the previous heating system and with a significantly better heat output," says the managing director. And the noise level? "No comparison at all with the previous model. When the employees grind a body part, they can't hear the Puls-air at all. That was different in the past."

Ms. Friedewald is very satisfied with the heating output and heat distribution. This is also a major advantage compared to the old heating system: maintenance is so clearly explained in the operating instructions, both verbally and in writing, that every user can do it themselves, she enthuses.

Managing Director Svenja Friedewald is thinking about purchasing a second Puls-air system.

One of the highlights of the new workshop heating system in the Ideal workshop is its low weight of just 75 kilograms. At 97 percent, the efficiency of the workshop heating system is particularly high. In this way, the Puls-air appliance not only helps to save energy and protect the environment.

"We're not quite sure yet how the location issue will develop for the business, but if we buy a second appliance, it will definitely be another maintenance-friendly pulse-air heating system."
