Ideal workshop, Maintal

At Karosseriebau Ideal in Maintal, precision and efficiency are basic requirements for successful work. The managing director does not want to do without these attributes when equipping the body store and paint store. The Ideal company heats with the innovative Puls-air heating system.

Ideal Karosseriebau GmbH in Maintal is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year," says Svenja Friedewald on the phone. In September 2017, she took over the management from her father, who founded the company in 1983. "I completed my commercial training here at the company and have actually been familiar with the issues and work in body shop from an early age," she says. The company is a classic body store and paint store. Eight employees, including one apprentice, are primarily responsible for repairing accident damage to cars and, if necessary, trucks.

"The heating issue has been on our minds for a long time," says Svenja Friedewald. The repair shop, where all work from assessment to disassembly, repair and final assembly takes place, is the heart of the company. Due to its age, it is not particularly well insulated. In addition, high doors and a ceiling height suitable for trucks ensure rapid heat loss.

"Until 2012, we had an oil-fired heater that was located outside the hall. The warm air was led inside via a pipe." Placing it indoors was impossible because the old system made an enormous amount of noise, the manager says. But that wasn't the only shortcoming. "The heat output was very manageable, but its thirst for heating oil was all the more considerable," says Svenja Friedewald.

Low noise, economical, reliable

Through an article in a trade magazine, she and her father became aware of the Puls-air fan-assisted heating system. "We then had a long and intensive telephone conversation with Mr. Plet- zer Werner, the developer of the Puls-air heating system. This convinced us so much that we directly bought a Puls-air heating system with 23.5 kW power."

The purchase was made six years ago, but Svenja Friedewald and her team are still enthusiastic about the Puls-air heating system. "We have permanently installed the mobile heating system in the hall and connected it to the central oil tank, which also feeds the paint booth," says Svenja Friedewald. The exhaust gases are led outside via a small pipe. "In our experience, the Puls-air requires about two-thirds less oil than its predecessor heater, with significantly better heating performance," says the managing director. And the noise development? "No comparison at all with the predecessor model. When the employees grind a body part, they don't hear the pulse air at all. That was different in the past."

Ms. Friedewald is very satisfied with the heating output and heat distribution. This is also a big advantage compared to the old heating system: Maintenance is so clearly described in the operating instructions, both verbally and in writing, that every user can do it themselves, the manager enthuses.

Managing Director Svenja Friedewald is considering the purchase of a second Puls-air system.

The highlight of the new workshop heater in the Ideal workshop is, among other things, its low dead weight of only 75 kilograms. At 97 percent, the efficiency of the workshop heater is particularly high. This means that the Puls-air unit not only helps to save energy and protect the environment.

"We're not quite sure yet how the site issue will play out for the business, but if we do purchase a second unit, it will definitely be another low-maintenance pulse-air heating system."
